At its core, dance tells a story. It can help children make sense of the world, broaden their experiences, and connect to the past, the present, and their future. NHDI enables children to explore new ideas, connect with stories from different times and places, and discover new ways to express themselves. Arts education is closely linked with positive academic outcomes and social and emotional development.
The NHDI Residency Program gives all K-12 school children the opportunity to participate in our performing arts outreach program during the school day.
We work with your school to design programming that suits your learning community and school budget.
Typically one week in length, these residencies ensure everyBODY dances. This model provides exposure to the arts, an empowering opportunity many children might not otherwise experience. Through dance, students build teamwork, confidence, and creative problem-solving skills that go way beyond the classroom.
This program includes a distinctive school-wide community event. After the week, the entire school population comes together in a celebration of the arts. With a sense of pride and accomplishment, dances are presented as a full thematic curriculum-based show through in-school and evening performances.
Perfect for larger schools (350+ students) or placement into a 2-week Physical Education unit. The same design and impact of the week-long program with school-wide community performances.
A great way to infuse the arts with an all-school Dance Jam Day and performance. Classes held throughout the day with a culminating cohesive dance-party performance at the end of the day!
We work with your school community to design dance to fit into your school’s schedule. Perfect for middle/high school schedules, programming is designed to fit into daily schedules for a short-term elective arts experience. (2 weeks to 2 months or more.)
We are ready to partner! Each school year, NHDI collaborates with 30 or more schools throughout New Hampshire and neighboring states and we are always ready to visit more!
If you are a Family Member/Guardian, a school administrator, a PTA or PTO organization, or even a K-8 student who wants to see the joy of dance come to your school, contact us today!
NHDI collaborates with youth and school-based recreational programs to bring dance experiences to their participants outside of their school day. Programming occurs in collaboration with after-school programs, city & town programs, and homeschool/alternative learning programs.
